Windows 10 reached the end of support on October 14th, 2025. For computers running Windows 10, that means they will no longer receive system or security updates from Microsoft, leaving the system vulnerable to intrusion or data loss.

Many Windows 10 systems can be upgraded to Windows 11, but not all. Microsoft is enforcing stronger security requirements in the hardware, which older computers may not be able to meet.

What to do?

Because Windows 11 has stricter hardware requirements for security, the best thing you can do is upgrade or replace your system. In some cases an in-place upgrade can temporarily alleviate the symptoms, but it is not a recommended fix. Microsoft prefers that your hardware is security compatible, which means new hardware if yours doesn’t meet requirements.
